Bingham U3A group to widen its horizons in 2021 following coronavirus-hit year
Coronavirus has given Bingham U3A group the unexpected opportunity to widen its horizons.
Branch chairman John Lewis said: “Covid-19 has been a huge challenge to us, but we’ve continued as many of our activities as possible in line with the restrictions.
“However, it’s also been an opportunity for us to widen our horizons and exploit new ways of communicating and sharing our experiences.
“I’m talking, of course, about moving into the digital future. A vast array of meetings, talks, seminars, films, presentations and entertainment is available to our members and a wide range of expert help is at hand through U3A for people unfamiliar with using a computer or smartphone to help them get online and get the full benefit of membership.”
The club is working on a varied programme of virtual meetings, events and group activities for 2021, which will be published on its website and Facebook page.
“The first ever National U3A Day, which had to be cancelled this year, has been rescheduled for June 2, 2021, possibly as a virtual event, and Bingham U3A plans to be part of it,” said John.
“September, 2020, saw the 20th birthday of Bingham U3A, which covid-19 sadly prevented us from celebrating as we had planned, but we fully intend to celebrate our 21st instead with an awesome programme of events.
“So, everybody, stay safe, stay happy and above all learn, laugh, live.”
