A mixture of culinary delights and sunshine attracted hundreds of people to the fifth annual Newark Food and Drink Fayre on Sunday.

The Market Place featured around 30 stalls selling local and regional produce as well as street entertainers and live music.

Hourly cookery demonstrations in the Rangemaster kitchen were also displayed on a huge screen so crowds could follow the chefs more easily.

Mr Steve Durham, kitchen director at Tapas y Stray’s, Middlegate, Newark, demonstrated how to make a Spanish omelette and tapas using locally-sourced ingredients.

Other demonstrators showed crowds how to make mouth-watering chocolate meringue roulades, banoffee pie shots and herby cheese paté.

Mr George Sycamore, events manager for Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they have been able to sample unusual foods such as the bison and ostrich burgers which have gone down well.”
