Jack Russell dies after being set upon by Rottweiler
A Jack Russell died after being set upon by a Rottweiler in Wilson Street, Newark, on Tuesday (March 19).
Two people were walking towards the town centre with the Rottweiler on a lead while the owner of the Jack Russell was on the other side, heading out of town.
At about 6.10pm it’s alleged that the Rottweiler pulled them across the road near the junction of Kirk Gate where it attacked the Jack Russell, resulting in its death a short time later.
CCTV shows the two people who police believe may have information, walking from Kirkgate towards Middlegate. The victim was left on his knees holding his dog.
PC Clint Gloyn from Newark said: “The Jack Russell’s owner thought of his dog as a member of his family and has been left very distraught by the death of his pet and the fact that he saw it happen.
“We urge the people who were in charge of the Rottweiler to get in touch. There were also people in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident and may be able to help.”
