Balderton branch of the Royal British Legion retires its standard and disbands following today's Remembrance Sunday

Veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces joined youth organisations for Balderton's Remembrance Sunday today on an even more poignant day.

A service took place at St Giles' Church in the village before a parade led by the 1st Balderton Scout and Guide Band formed up and marched to the war memorial outside Balderton Methodist Church.

There followed a short service where standards were lowered and a silence observed.

Veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces were joined by Balderton and Fernwood parish councils, cadets, the emergency services, Women’s Institute, Scouts, Cubs, Boy’s Brigade, Guides and Brownies.

The Balderton branch of the Royal British Legion will retire its standard now as a lack of members attending meetings has forced the branch to be disbanded.
