Les Jones at Inizio on Stodman Street, Newark, zips around town in a shell suit for Challenge Anneka-style event
There was no helicopter for him to leap from in his hunt for clues, but Challenge Les was off to a flyer on Saturday.
Dressed in a shell suit just like TV’s Anneka Rice of Eighties television Treasure Hunt fame, Les Jones cut a dashing figure as he chased around Newark town centre to promote local businesses.
Les, director of hair salon Inizio on Stodman Street was keen to support the town’s offering and was trailed by a film crew that included Kevin Guthrie of Guthrie Therapy, who streamed live on the Inizio Facebook page.
Les visited a number of independent retailers, pausing during his whirlwind escapade to chat to the owners before setting off again, ably supported by accountant Francesca Tricarico.
The shell suit-wearing duo turned many a head on their dash in their unique promotional venture.
They stopped at shops including Honey Trap lingerie on Cartergate, London Eye Bespoke Eyewear in the market place, Soup Dwagon on Chain Lane, Sweat Pea flower shop near the parish church, Lace Boutique and Grace Gentle, both Middlegate.
They called at about a dozen shops in total.
