Newark Saint-Gobain Formula and British Gypsum staff hold community litter-pick

Armed with pickers and bags, a team of Litter Heroes from Saint-Gobain took time out to clean up the area around the Newark quarry and adjacent works in support of the Great British Spring Clean.

The litter picking team — made up of employees from the Newark Saint-Gobain Formula sites and from sister company British Gypsum — focused on tidying up three roads — Bowbridge Lane, Grange Lane and Staple Lane.

They filled 73 bags with litter.

The Great British Spring Clean is an annual campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy.

This, the seventh year, is tagged the #BigBagChallenge with those taking part pledging to pick up as much litter as they can during the period March 25 to April 10.

Saint-Gobain Formula’s Bantycock Quarry manager, Kevin Glasper said: “Saint-Gobain’s purpose is ‘making the world a better home’ and we are committed to being a good corporate citizen wherever we operate.

“This campaign gave our employees a great opportunity to improve the environment around our Newark operations and work together as a different kind of team for a day.

“While it is disappointing to find so much litter locally, it was also very satisfying to collect 73 bags and make such a difference locally.”
