A major resurfacing project soon to begin on the A6097 between Lowdham and Bingham, as part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s capital maintenance programme

Part of a major artery through the county is to be resurfaced, beginning from next month.

The A6097, between Lowdham and Gunthorpe, is planned to be fully resurfaced throughout part of September and October.

Alongside the A614, the A6097 is an important link between the East and West of the county, connecting Ollerton, Lowdham, and Bingham.

The work is split into two phases; the A6097 Lowdham Road from Lowdham roundabout to Cottage Pasture Lane, and the A6097 Lowdham Road/By-Pass Road from Cottage Pasture Lane to Gunthorpe Bridge.

These sections have areas of significant potholes.

A road closure will be in place overnight, from 8pm to 6am, between Lowdham roundabout and the Kirk Hill junction for East Bridgford for the duration of the works.

This is expected to be between September 15 and October 10, although the dates could vary if works are affected by issues such as adverse weather.

A diversion route will be in place via Colwick.

Two Newark roads are also to be resurfaced, with work on these expected to begin later this month.

Bowbridge Road is to be resurfaced between the 20mph advisory approaching Earp Avenue to the surface change approaching the mini roundabout.

This is due to be completed between August 13 and 14, with an overnight closure to allow for the resurfacing.

A section of Barnby Road, between John Gold Avenue to the level crossing, is to be resurfaced between August 18 and August 22.

A daytime road closure will be in place during the works, from 8am to 6pm, with a diversion in place via Bullpit Road, London Road, and Sherwood Avenue.

All three resurfacing projects are part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s 2025-2026 highway capital maintenance programme.
