Man jailed for sexually abusing a child

A man who sexually abused a child over a seven year period has been jailed for 16 years.

Stanley Yeomans, 59, was found guilty of nine counts of sexual abuse following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday May 7.

His victim came forward 17 years after the abuse finally came to a stop.

Yeomans of Farndon, Newark, pleaded not guilty throughout the trial.

Nottinghamshire Police Detective Constable Cathy Austin has been praised for the work she did in getting the case to court.

Inspector Justine Dakin, from the force, said: “I truly commend DC Austin’s diligent and tireless work on this case.

“She went the extra mile to get this case to court and see justice done.”
