Man jumps into River Trent at South Muskham but drags himself out

A man jumped into the River Trent this evening (Saturday) from the A1 bridge at South Muskham.

All three emergency services responded to the incident after the call came in at 5.20pm.

The man is said by the fire service to have swum under the bridge before hauling himself out of the river on the bank.

He was said to have been in the river for several minutes.

He is now said to be in the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Fire crews from Newark, Collingham and Highfields attended along with three specialist water rescue units.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was unable to provide any information to the press at the present time.
