Mayor sends sympathy to those affected by gas explosion

The town mayor of Newark has issued his condolences to the family of those who died in yesterday's explosion on Wright Street, Newark.

In a statement, the town council said: “Councillor Bryan Richardson, the Town Mayor, and councillor for Beacon Ward, sends his sincere condolences to those who have been bereaved in the explosion at Wright Street, Newark, yesterday afternoon.

"He also sends his sympathy to those people who have had their properties damaged as a result of the explosion or who have had to be evacuated while the emergency services deal with the incident.

"The emergency services are to be congratulated on their extremely prompt response and their hard work for this emergency.”
