The West Walk in the grounds of Southwell Minster will host a street party as part of nationwide celebrations celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.

It takes place from noon to 3.30pm in partnership with Southwell Town Council.

There will be musical entertainment including Essentially Brass, a popular local quartet.

In addition, there will be family games, organised by Southwell and District Lions Club, and an array of food and drink stalls run by local independent businesses.

Guests are invited to wear Union flag attire, or anything red, white and/or blue if they wish.

People are encouraged to bring their families, friends, picnics, chairs and blankets, and join in the festivities as the nation celebrates 70 years of the Queen’s reign.

A limited number of tables and chairs will be available.

The minster’s bells will play the national anthem at midday to kick-off the celebrations and all guests are welcome to join the Pentecost Jubilee Service involving all the churches in Southwell inside the minster at 3.30pm.

If the weather is bad the event will be moved into the nave.

Then follows the Southwell Minster Jubilee light show at 9.45pm, continuing until 11pm.

Art work will be projected on Southwell Minster in place of a beacon. It is in partnership with the town council and Southwell Workhouse and connected to the workhouse art trail.

An artisan market with food stalls, morris dancers and music takes place in Southwell on the Thursday.

There’s also a shop window competition with 12 corgis hidden in windows around the town.
