Dog that went missing Stephen Road, Newark found at Children’s 1st Nursery School, Newark, returned to family

A dog that was hit by a car on the A46 and was missing for nearly a week has been safely reunited with her family.

Annie Binns was looking after her son’s and daughter-in-law, Peter and Ruby Blake's, dog on Saturday (July 26), when Millie ran away from Stephen Road, Newark.

Millie, who was with the family for nine years, ran away in the early hours, was initially found in Peter's neighbour’s garden later on the day, but when he went to get her, she bolted.

She ran towards the A46, where she was hit by a car before continuing to the fields near the British Sugar factory on Kelham Road.

Drone to Home assisted the family since Millie went missing, conducting daily searches across the area.

Millie was found on Friday (August 1) at Children’s 1st Nursery School, Muskham Road, Newark.

Annie has thanked everyone who got involved in looking for Millie and supporting the family during the hard few days.

“The world is not a great place, and so many nasty people out there, but it shows that when the chips are down, so many lovely people can pull together.

“The family are so relieved.

“I still feel empty inside, and it will take a while to get myself back to being me, but at least Millie is now safe at home
