New Dukeries Swimming Pool at Ollerton makes a big splash, reveals Newark and Sherwood district councillor

More than 200 memberships have already been taken up at a newly-opened swimming pool.

“We successfully opened the Dukeries Swimming Pool,” said Newark and Sherwood District Council leisure and environment committee chairman Roger Jackson at a meeting of the full council.

“Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Adlington came for a swim with the young children there, which was really nice to see.”

To celebrate the opening launch, there was also a free weekend of swimming.

Mr Jackson said: “Now, the pool is being enjoyed by many people in Ollerton and the surrounding area.

“We have already had 123 new junior members, 60 adults members, and more than 60 summer members on a special promotion that we hope we can turn in to a permanent membership in the future.

“This all is helping the health and wellbeing of the local community and shows a Conservative administration spending money on improving lives for all people across the district.”
