Judging starts for 2020 Newark Business Awards

Judging is under way for this year’s Newark Business Awards, and the countdown has started to the announcement of our finalists.

It is another step towards our awards ceremony planned for later this year.

Entry packs submitted by our entrants have been sent to our independent judges in each of the categories for them to pore over.

Using the information supplied, they will decide the finalists in each of the ten categories.

And it promises to be a tough task thanks to the number of high-quality candidates.

Once the judges have made their decision, the finalists will be revealed in next week’s Advertiser.

The finalists then go on to the next stage of the competition.

That will involve our judges visiting each of the businesses and carrying out interviews with employers and their staff to decide the overall winners.

They will win a trophy designed and created by students at Newark College.

There will also be a specially commended business in each category.

It is hoped the winners can be announced at a glittering back-tie ceremony at the Lady Eastwood Centre, Newark Showground, on Thursday, October 22 — depending on government guidelines.

Iliffe Media, owners of the Advertiser, is constantly reviewing the best way forward in light of changing coronavirus guidelines, but hopes a ceremony will take place in some form to recognise the very best of local businesses.

Tickets for the ceremony, which includes a three-course meal, will go on sale soon.

Good luck to all our entrants and don’t forget to check next week’s Advertiser to discover our finalists.
