Newark Dementia Carers Group restarts meetings in a new home

Support is available for those who may have recently been diagnosed with dementia or have a diagnosis pending.

Coinciding with National Dementia Action Week, which is this week, Newark Dementia Carers Group has restarted meetings, in a new home.

The group now meets at the Reach café at Balderton Parish Council, behind the community centre, on the Coronation Street Playing Fields.

Meets will start at 11am and there is a drop-in until 3pm.

It is open to existing members and new friends to chat and share experiences.

The group was set up to provide support for those with dementia and their carers.

The café will be the base for the group for the foreseeable future.

Group chairman Ken Daubney said: “The group can really make a difference to carers and those suffering from this terrible disease.

“Coronavirus has led to isolation among sufferers but now we have the opportunity to meet again and support one-another.”
