Newark man who fought ISIS released on bail
A Newark man who was detained as he returned from fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria has been released on police bail pending further inquiries and has been reunited with his family.
Aiden Aslin, 22, was detained as his flight landed at Heathrow yesterday (Wednesday).
He was held by Nottinghamshire Police for more than 24 hours and questioned.
Aiden has now been bailed and is reunited with his family for the first time since leaving the UK to fight ISIS, or Daesh, in April of last year.
Nottinghamshire Police said in a statement: "A 22-year-old man has today been bailed after his arrest on Wednesday on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation to commit an act of terrorism (Section 5 of the 2000 Terrorism Act) and on suspicion of weapons training, under Section 54 of the Terrorism Act.
"It follows claims he had allegedly trained in the use of weapons in Iraq and was engaged in the preparation to fight Daesh."
