Newark and Bingham MP Robert Jenrick has every faith in Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister

Newark and Bingham MP Robert Jenrick has congratulated his friend Rishi Sunak on becoming the leader of the Conservative Party and the country's new Prime Minister.

Taking to twitter, Mr Jenrick, who backed former Chancellor Mr Sunak in both recent leadership campaigns, said: "I couldn’t be prouder of my friend today.

"He’s won the overwhelming support of the parliamentary party.

"There are huge challenges ahead, but I have every faith that with him at the helm, the country will succeed."
