Newark's Middlebeck families enjoy evening of festive singing and Christmas treats
Families of Newark’s flourishing neighbourhood, Middlebeck, enjoyed a festive evening of singing, sweet treats and mulled wine, thanks to the area’s developer Urban&Civic and Christ Church.
The free Community Carol Service took place on Bowbridge Square, directly in front of Middlebeck’s new Christ Church Church of England Primary School and was organised to bring the community together for an evening of fun and festivity.
Families were in fine voice as they stepped out to celebrate the build-up to Christmas with friends and neighbours, whilst tucking into complimentary treats from family-friendly house café Beanblock.
Paul Spensley, project manager for Middlebeck, said: “We were delighted to welcome local families to our community carol service last week.
“A fantastic time was had by all, partaking in a chorus book of classic Christmas carols, mingling with loved ones and enjoying a festive feast courtesy of the neighbourhood’s family friendly café Beanblock.
“We’re dedicated to offering residents a variety of activities throughout the year to bring the wider community together, and this year’s Christmas celebrations proved to be the perfect way to celebrate the season together.” he added.
Cate Martin and Aliki Allen, directors of BeanBlock, said: “The event was great. We were honoured to be asked to provide our tasty baked goods for the carol concert — it was so lovely to be able to see some of our customers and meet new families to the area. Such a warming festive event despite the cold weather.”
There are over 347 families now living at Middlebeck and 140 more set to move in over the next 12 months.
Once complete, the neighbourhood will be made up of over 3,000 new homes and amenities.
