A 26-YEAR-OLD woman who drove off without paying for fuel was fined and told to pay compensation by Nottingham magistrates.

Natalia Price, of Riverside Park, Tolney Lane, Newark, pleaded guilty to the theft of fuel worth £33.94 in Gamston and was fined £120.

She also admitted failing to stop her Ford Focus for police on Bassingfield Lane and to the fact the car was uninsured and had a fake numberplate.

She received no separate penalties for those offences but was fined another £120 for driving without due care and attention, as a part of the same incident.

Benefit claimant Price must pay £119 costs and will have to pay for the fuel.

AN UNINSURED heavily intoxicated driver was sentenced to a community order by magistrates and banned from the roads for 28 months.

Aleksejs Sarikovs, 30, of Ferry Road, High Marnham, was driving a Mercedes on Great North Road, Newark, and gave a reading of 117mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to both offences and was told to pay costs totalling £180.

He was also fined £120 for failing to attend court on an earlier occasion.

AN EAST BRIDGFORD man who stole a parcel containing a carpenter's speed square was fined £120 and told to pay costs of £432.

Allan Dilks, 56, of Cross Lane, denied the theft, which was committed in Ruddington, but was found guilty following a trial.

The money will be deducted fortnightly from benefits.
