UAVs of all sizes are not permitted to fly in Rushcliffe around RAF Syerston and HMP Whatton among others

Aircraft without human pilots on board are not permitted to fly within airspace restrictions.

Unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, quadcopters and model aircraft of all sizes, including those under 250g, are not allowed to fly in Ruscliffe, around RAF Syerston and HMP Whatton, among others.

This is due to the risk they pose to Aircraft, the buildings or the site or the activities that take place at a building or site.

Permission can be sought by users from the operator of a restricted site for specific purposes, such as building survey or response to emergency incidents, which would include search and rescue operations.

There can be temporary restrictions put in place for certain events and activities, which could include an organised event such as Goose Fair or a VIP visit or in response to an emergency incident.

Other specific legislation covers endangering aircraft, endangering people or disturbing wildlife.

That might prohibit or restrict flights in other areas, such as near sports stadiums during events or bird nesting sites.

Further details for UAV owners and pilots can be found at the UK Civil Aviation Authority website and a map can be found at the NATS website.
