Collingham Show : Plenty to see at 116th annual event

Gun dogs, falconry, a heavy horse display, plenty of ploughing and a former deputy prime minister who knows all about eggs were among the attractions at a rural show.

Mr John Prescott, whose politician son David lives in Collingham, was a visitor at this year’s Collingham Show and Ploughing Match on Saturday at Larkfields.

Mr Prescott famously threw a punch at a man who threw an egg at him while he was campaigning in Wales.

Mr David Prescott, who was accompanied by his father, is political adviser to opposition Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn and the Shadow Cabinet.

The 166th annual show was billed as a traditional family day out.

The show featured livestock, vintage and classic vehicles and produce.

There was plenty of locally-sourced food and refreshments available.

There were displays, trade stands and grand ring attractions, which included a British Scurry and Trials Driving competition.

Tractor and trailer rides took visitors around the ploughing competition, giving a good view of the competitors at work.
