Two elderly people taken to hospital after arson at Nicholson Street, Newark, in the early hours of Sunday




Police officers are investigating an arson after Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended a house fire in the early hours of Sunday morning on Nicholson Street, Newark.

Residents were evacuated and two elderly occupants were taken to King's Mill Hospital for treatment.

Inspector Heather Sutton, district commander for Newark and Sherwood Police, said: “Thankfully no-one was seriously injured during this incident.

"The arson is now being investigated by our CID teams and we ask anyone with any information to come forward by calling Nottinghamshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 88 of January 5 2020, or alternatively anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
