Power restored after cut affects almost 2,000 Newark properties

Some homes and businesses in Newark were affected by a power cut this morning.

Western Power Distribution said power was lost at 9.25am due to a fault with a high voltage cable.

Originally, 1,936 customers were affected but power was restored to 732 within a minute.

Within an hour, a further 927 properties were reconnected.

The remaining 277 customers were connected by 11am.
