Investigation in to disappearance of Chester man missing from Nottingham for nearly 3 months continues as police re-appeal
An investigation in to the disappearance of a man missing for nearly three months continues.
25-year-old Huw Williams, from Chester, was last seen 12 weeks ago on May 6 at the Nottingham home he shared with a woman.
Since then, there has been no sightings of him and his family and friends have had no contact from him through texts, phone calls or other means.
Huw — who has high-functioning autism — has vanished without his mobile phone, which was found at his home smashed. He appears to have no other means of contacting anyone, and is without any obvious funds to support himself.
His devastated relatives have not seen him since Christmas and the last contact they had from him was in early May, around the time of the first Bank Holiday weekend.
His family said this is highly unusual for Huw who has left them at their wits' end wondering what has happened to him.
They did a heartfelt appeal last week in the hope this would lead to someone knowing where he was, or even Huw himself letting people know he was safe and well.
On the back of this, Nottinghamshire Police saw a spike in calls giving alleged sightings of him or information about where he might possibly be.
Each and every one of these leads was followed up, but to no avail, Huw has still not been found and concern for his welfare continues to grow.
Coupled with this, officers have been investigating Huw’s last residential dwelling in the hope a vital clue turned up. For the past ten days, detectives have been at Danethorpe Vale, Sherwood, searching the house and also the garden area.
After extensive search activity, the scene has now been closed and the cordon lifted as this led to no further evidence.
Officers are now pursuing other lines of inquiry in the hope of tracing Huw and are re-appealing for anyone who may have seen him to get in touch as soon as possible.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Waldram, who is leading the investigation, said: "It has now been nearly three months since Huw was last seen.
"As you might imagine his family remain extremely concerned for his welfare and so we are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
"It is very much out of character for him to be out of contact with his relatives for such a long time and we are keeping them informed as our enquiries continue.
"I'd like to thank those members of the public who have come forward with possible reported sightings and we continue to urge anyone who believes they may have seen Huw at any time since May 6 to contact us immediately."
Huw is described as being 6ft 2ins tall, of slim build, with bushy brown hair and a full beard.
He has two tattoos on his arms, one of a fish on his right forearm and another of a black and white skull on his left bicep.
He was last seen wearing a chequered shirt, dark blue trousers and trainers with reflective silver stripes. He may also have a green waterproof jacket with him.
Huw himself, or anyone who has seen him or who may have any information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 70 of May 6, 2021.
A 34-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the case. She was subsequently released on bail.
