Taking up her post as cathedral administrator for Southwell Minster, Adele Poulson can draw on more than 30 years’ experience working as an HR professional in the public and private sector.

Adele is currently director of HR and safeguarding for the Diocese of Derby, and a team leader and a project manager.

In these roles she is said to have gained a great deal of experience that will assist her in her new position, which she begins initially on a part-time basis in February and then full-time from March 1.

Adele is actively involved within her local community.

She is a foundation school governor at Cotgrave Primary School, and for ten years she has been a churchwarden of her local church.

Along with friends and neighbours Adele has also worked to raise money to support St Margaret’s Church.

'A privilege'

In 2006, Adele was commissioned as a workplace chaplain providing support to businesses in the centre of Nottingham.

She said: “I am excited to be joining the team at Southwell Minster as cathedral administrator.

“It is a privilege to have been invited to lead a team of talented people in a truly beautiful setting.

“I am looking forward to working with the Dean and Chapter to deliver plans for growth and development that will support the mission and ministry of the cathedral, within the local community and wider diocese.”

Outside of work, Adele loves gardening and, with her husband Brad, enjoys foreign travel, the theatre, good food and socialising with friends.

The Dean of Southwell, the Very Rev Nicola Sullivan, said: “She will bring to this vital role her wide experience of people and faith.

“This is an exciting and crucial time for England’s cathedrals nationally in the numerous opportunities for mission and service to the community, and in particular here at Southwell Minster as we develop our plans for the future.”
