Rushcliffe South Police were out patrolling Cotgrave County Park following reports of criminal damage, noise nuisance and littering

Officers have been patrolling a county park following reports of criminal damage, noise nuisance and littering.

Rushcliffe South Police were out in Cotgrave County Park after damage was reported to the new green shelters in the park last week.

The space was described as being an important ‘community asset’ and, along with the other signs, benches, and amenities, is there for the whole community to enjoy.

Rushcliffe South Police said: “Volunteers from the Friends of Cotgrave Country Park, The Grantham Canal Society and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust along with staff from the Canal and River Trust, Nottinghamshire County Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Cotgrave Town Council have spent thousands of hours working on the park and the canal to make it into the leisure area it is today.

“Their dedication and hard work is replicated across the Borough at other Green and Blue spaces where volunteers from a wide range of organisations and clubs and staff from Town and Parish Councils make sure sports pitches, parks, nature reserves and country parks are safe and pleasant to use.

“We don’t want to see this hard work made harder and the community amenities damaged by vandals.”

If anyone sees any criminal damage being committed are urged to report it to the police on 999 or 101.

If the damage has already been caused, people can report it to 101 or online.
