Newark MP Robert Jenrick visits construction site of East Markham Primary school hall
Newark MP Robert Jenrick visited the construction site of a school hall in his constituency that is finally being built after a 20-year fight.
Mr Jenrick said East Markham Primary had numerous false dawns along the way.
“It is a very cramped Victorian school building, without a hall for assemblies, lunch, plays and sports, which is very unusual,” said Mr Jenrick, who visited the school prior to national lockdown restrictions coming into force.
“And the school is thriving as the village grows and it’s reputation attracts students from as far away as Newark.
“The governors, parents and local councillor John Ogle and I have worked on this for many years and finally persuaded Nottinghamshire County Council to fund it.
"It will open in June.”
