Seated exercise boost to being active4today at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre

Active4Today has re-started seated exercise sessions.

Being physically active can make us feel better in so many ways. And these gentle exercise sessions are delivered in a group setting and can help improve your mobility, fitness and wellbeing as well as help prevent falls.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t done exercise for a while, the exercises are gentle and easy to follow.

People are encouraged to build up slowly and to always go at their own pace.

The weekly seated exercise sessions are held at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre every Monday, 3.15pm to 4pm and every Tuesday, 11.30am to 12.15pm, at Southwell Leisure Centre.

Alternatively, if you feel a little unsteady on your feet and feel that you prefer a class that helps improve your balance then they have just the class for you — Otago balance and strength exercise classes are a combination of both gentle slow paced seated and standing exercises.

These sessions are designed to improve strength, balance and confidence, which can help reduce the risk of falls, they also empower older adults to maintain their independence with being able to carry out their daily activities.

Sessions are weekly at Southwell Leisure Centre every Thursday 11.30am-12.15pm. Classes are priced at £4.50.

Strokeability and cardiac classes are also available at leisure centres.
