Police raided a Traveller site in Screveton as part of an investigation into an allegation of attempted murder on Tolney Lane, Newark
A second Traveller site was raided as part of an investigation into an alleged attempted murder, the Advertiser has learned.
It has been suggested armed police were involved in the raid on the Traveller site at Flintham Lane, Screveton, which was initially settled illegally in 2018, but granted planning permission on appeal the following year.
Detective Inspector Steve Wragg, from Nottinghamshire Police, confirmed: “Officers have carried out a number of searches in in relation to a shooting incident in Tolney Lane, Newark on Wednesday, June 17.
“This included an intelligence-led search at a property in Flintham Lane, Screveton, at around 9.30pm on Thursday, June 18.
“Nobody was arrested on that occasion but a 50-year-old man, Rudolph Price, has since been charged with attempted murder and our investigations are continuing.”
