An event honouring a village’s role in a second world war airborne assault will go ahead in September.
Caythorpe, Lincs, will hold its gala and commemoration on September 4.
The gala, on the playing field, is on noon-4pm and will feature entertainment, games and stalls. There will also be a food court, dog show, tug-o-war competition and the popular annual football match between the village and 216 Parachute Signal Squadron. A parade and church service will go ahead the following day.
The squadron visits Caythorpe each year as village accommodated what was the 1st Airborne Division’s Signal Regiment prior to its assault on Arnhem in September 1944.
