Service to remember the dear departed at Southwell Minster
A special service of thanksgiving, when loved ones who have died in the last 12 months are remembered, is being held in the Quire of Southwell Minster at 6.30pm on Sunday.
Those who have been bereaved in the last year are invited but others who have lost loved ones in recent years are also welcomed.
The service includes music, readings and prayers and the names of loved ones are read aloud.
Individual candles can be lit with the light taken from the annual Paschal Candle first lit on the morning of Easter Day.
Acting Dean of the Cathedral, the Rev Canon Nigel Coates, said: “It is a powerful and moving way of giving thanks for those loved ones who have gone before and reminds us that they are held in the love of God revealed to us in the risen Christ. All are welcome.”
