Newark dressmakers Petit Versailles pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II's fashion with shop window display
Tributes to the Queen continue as Newark businesses dedicate their window displays to Her Majesty.
Designer and seamstress, Hajra Kemari, owns Petit Versailles on Stodman Street.
The dressmakers is well known for its unique style and eye-catching window displays, and the current window does not disappoint.
Portuguese-born Hajra, a resident of 17 years, said: “Queen Elizabeth II was my adopted sovereign and I was full of admiration for her.
“Her selfless dedication was an inspiration to all, both in the UK and worldwide.”
Hajra recreated the Queen’s classic sense of style in the window display, which included clothes, jewellery and a royal sash placed alongside and mirroring original photographs which served as inspiration.
The Queen ‘s portrait also hangs in an ornate gold frame, adorned with her favourite flowers; lily of the valley, chrysanthemums and white roses.
“The people of Newark have been very complementary about the display, coming to express their appreciation and some have been quite moved by it, giving us hugs and even shedding tears,” said Hajra.
“So many shops in Newark have created stunning window displays and made a real effort to show their love for the Queen, it makes me so proud to be a part of this town.”
