General Election 2017 : Southwell Minster to host hustings

Southwell Minster is hosting a General Election hustings on Tuesday, for the community to put questions to the Newark candidates.

Churches Together In Southwell is organising the event, which will take place in the nave.

The format will be like BBC’s Question Time.

John Hess — former political editor for East Midlands Today — will take the chair.

The panel will be the Conservative candidate, Mr Robert Jenrick; the Labour candidate, Chantal Lee; the Liberal Democrats’ David Watts; and Xandra Arundel, who is standing for UKIP.

The Dean of Southwell, the Very Rev Nicola Sullivan, said: “The archbishops have encouraged Christians to set aside apathy and cynicism and to fully participate in the political process.

“We hope that many will come from across the constituency.”

The event starts at 7.45pm.
