Starbucks and McDonalds plans put forward on major Nottinghamshire junction between A614 Old Rufford Road and Mansfield Road

Plans have been put forward that would see a popular coffee shop and a fast-food restaurant built on a busy roundabout.

In plans submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council, it is proposed that new Starbucks and McDonalds drive thrus are built on the White Post roundabout near Farnsfield.

Permission is being sought to demolish the former Winner City Cantonese restaurant, which currently occupies the site, to make way for the new restaurants.

The Starbucks and McDonalds drive thrus would be built at opposite end of the site with a total of 49 shared parking spaces, waiting spaces, and electric vehicle charging points.

The junction intersects Old Rufford Road (A614) and Mansfield Road, and was chosen as a prime location for development, as it sits close to two popular Nottinghamshire tourist attractions, White Post Farm and Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Park.

Access from Old Rufford Road would also be altered to make entering and exiting the site easier.

In planning documents, submitted by Burney Estates Ltd, it is suggested that approximately 40 new jobs would be created if the plans were to gain approval, and that this would help boost the local economy in the area.

It is also suggested that both units will have 24/7 opening hours.

Developers say the proposals have been designed alongside a landscape and planting strategy which would increase biodiversity across the brownfield site.
