Stepping out to help colleague
A keen speed walker is to walk from his home to Cadwell Park in support of a colleague who has undergone a life-changing operation because of diabetes.
Mr Kevin Hempsall, 53, works at Newark Copper Cylinder Co Ltd, where many of his workmates have sponsored him.
He said he was keen to raise as much as he could to help his colleague.
Mr Hempsall plans to set off on the 34-mile walk from North Hykeham at 5am on August 4 and expects to arrive at the Lincolnshire motor racing circuit by 1pm. He will be walking an average of 4mph.
“I enjoy speed walking and if I can do it to help raise money to support somebody too, then I am happy to do so,” he said.
Last year he walked from his home to Skegness in freezing conditions to help raise money for a defibrillator outside Barnby Road Academy, Newark.
This time the walk is likely to be in weather at the warmer extreme.
“I do regular walks so I should be acclimatised to the heat,” said Mr Hempsall.
