Street parties and fun days help residents celebrate Queen's platinum jubilee
Hundreds of people took part in events across the Advertiser area yesterday (Saturday) for day three of the Queen's platinum jubilee celebrations.
It included a host of street parties and family fun days.
Residents, staff and guests at Lancaster Grange Care Home, Fernwood, enjoyed an afternoon tea party to mark the occasion.
Many residents in Hawksworth gathered for a giant street party in their village during the afternoon.
And there was also street party for residents of Charles Street in Newark.
Afternoon tea was served in St Giles' Community Hall, Balderton, to bring people together in celebration.
There was a morning of jubilee-themed games and challenges at Newark Evangelical Church.
And at All Saints' Church, Hawton, tea was served in an afternoon that included games, a quiz and music.
There was a street party in the paddock at Syerston, which was held in the donkey's field off Hawksworth Road.
It included giant versions of pin the tail on the donkey, Connect 4, dominoes, Jenga, magnetic darts, spinning dart bombs, Wellie wanging, croquet and tug-of-war, and karaoke.
The final day of jubilee celebrations are taking place. Many have been forced to move inside because of the heavy rain.
