Newark Emmaus Trust thanks truly amazing organisations that supported it throughout a tough year
A charity that supports young homeless people says it has a lot to be thankful for after a tough year.
Newark Emmaus Trust said it owed a huge debt of gratitude to some truly amazing organisations who had supported it during the pandemic.
“If it were not for our core funders we would be unable to provide the comprehensive support that we do for our residents,” said chief executive Nicola Burley.
“Life at the trust is the richer because of the generosity of these major organisations and we thank them sincerely.
“Of course we are also grateful to everyone who supports us, not only through grants and donations but also through pro bono help.
“And finally, massive thanks to the individuals, schools, churches, businesses and organisations that have helped us over the past few months and through this very difficult period.”
Newark Emmaus Trust provides accommodation, support and training for homeless people, aged 16 to 25, including pregnant teenagers, young parents and their babies.
All accommodation is in Newark and includes shared houses for young people of the same gender, shared houses for young people of mixed gender, self-contained flats and houses for parents and their babies or family units.
All the accommodation is fully-furnished and ready to occupy. An agency can refer a young person for an interview and the project also takes self-referrals.
Among the charity’s core funders are the Nationwide Community Grant, Children in Need, Big Lottery Fund and the Lloyds Foundation.
