Taxi experiences sought by council Newark and Sherwood District Council

Customer, taxi and private hire driver satisfactions in Newark are being sought.

Consultation consists of two surveys — one for customers and one for drivers — and aims to answer several important questions, including if residents feel safe using a taxi, particularly during the winter months when the nights are longer.

The district council consultation will also determine why and how the public uses taxies and private hire vehicles, how satisfied they are with the service and if they feel the fees are reasonable.

The survey aimed at drivers will gather information on when they are working, how they operate and from which ranks.

A report of the findings of the consultation will be presented at a future general purposes committee.

Rita Crowe, chairman of licensing, said: “It is essential that Newark and Sherwood District Council continually improve the services which we provide to the public. Therefore, we would like to gather important feedback from our residents that will enable us to identify any areas that we can assess to improve our taxi and public vehicle hire service.

“I recommend any of our taxi and private vehicle hire drivers and any residents who have used this service to have their say and complete our consultation.”

The consultation will close on Tuesday, November 30, at 5pm.

Both surveys consist of approximately 30 questions and will take ten minutes to complete.
