Nottinghamshire Police chases down teenagers at St Mary Magdalene Gardens in Church Walk in Newark.





Police officers chased down two teenagers acting suspiciously in a church garden and uncovered a large quantity of cash and some cannabis.

The incident happened just before 2pm on Monday (August 19) at St Mary Magdalene Gardens in Church Walk in Newark.

Officers were alerted to suspicious behaviour including the exchange of money for packages in the garden area.

When they arrived, two teenagers decided to make a run for it. They were located a short distance away and searched.

One of the men, aged 19, was found in possession of cannabis and a large quantity of cash.

He was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.

Neighbourhood inspector Charlotte Ellam said: “We know the impact that drugs can have on our communities and that is why we will react to any intelligence that comes into us.

“This was a good result by officers that have taken away a large quantity of cash and cannabis. We know this will have severely disrupted this illegal operation.

“We hope this provides the public with some reassurance that we will continuously pursue those who attempt to sell drugs in the Newark area.”
