Nottinghamshire County Council and Via partner to get teens behind the wheel
Teens can get behind the wheel this half-term.
Via is offering those as young as 15 the chance to take part in a pre-driver training scheme, which aims to give them the skills and knowledge needed to become safe drivers.
The training, in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, includes workshops about learning to drive, drink driving, and road safety.
Neil Clarke, chairman of the council’s transport and environment committee, said: “This course gives young people their first experience behind the wheel of a car in a safe, controlled, environment with fully-qualified driving instructors.
“The day also introduces them to the responsibilities that come with being a driver to control a car safely and calmly.
“Research shows that young people form and crystallise their driving attitudes well before they actually take to the road themselves, so it’s important that they receive the right message from the right people.”
The one-day course will run at The Minster School, Southwell, today.
Participants don’t need a driving licence or previous experience.
