Tasters and bakers are needed to take part in a Great Newark Bake Off that will raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The event will be held at Gannets Cafe Bistro in Newark from 2pm a week tomorrow and will have a vintage theme.

Tickets cost £5 and must be booked in advance. There is the choice of being a taster or a baker.

Those buying a baker ticket are asked to take six to eight portions of a homemade cake and will be in with the chance of being crowned the Great Newark Bake Off Champion.

It is the first event organised by a junior committee set up as a sister group to the Cancer Research UK’s Newark fundraising group.

So far the committee has two members — personal trainer Anita Ross and physiotherapist Becca Allen who meet monthly at The Farndon Boathouse. They are looking for more to join them.

Becca Allen said: “The Great Newark Bake Off will be a great way to bake and taste cake for fun and we hope it will become a regular event for Newark’s bakers to show off their skills.”

Tickets can be booked by contacting Anita Ross on 07794 049607 or emailing newark fundraisinggroup@gmail.com
