Helicopter assists in attempted murder investigation after man shot on Newark's Tolney Lane Traveller site
A police helicopter seen over Newark for several hours today is assisting in an investigation into an an alleged attempted murder.
Rudolph Price, 50, of Tolney Lane, was charged this morning following a shooting incident on the Traveller site and remanded in custody. He will appear in court later today.
Police were called to Tolney Lane Traveller shortly before 4pm on Wednesday following the attack.
The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was shot in the upper body and also attacked with a bladed weapon.
Divisional commander for Newark and Sherwood, Inspector Heather Sutton said: “A 50-year-old man has today been charged in relation to a shooting incident in Newark this week.
"Officers, assisted by a helicopter from the National Police Air Service, are currently continuing with the investigation in the Tolney Lane area of Newark.
"This is a live incident and we will be provide an update later in the day.”
