Man arrested after crash on A52

Officers are appealing for information from the public after a serious crash on the A52 near Bingham in the early hours of this morning.

The collision took place just after midnight near to the Saxondale roundabout and involved a white Vauxhall Nirvano van and a Honda Jazz.

The van was heading along the A52 Radcliffe Road from Nottingham towards the roundabout when it collided with a Honda Jazz heading in the opposite direction.

The driver of the van and both occupants of the Honda Jazz all suffered injuries in the collision.

The most seriously injured was a 66-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Honda Jazz and has sustained critical injuries.

The driver of the Honda, a 69-year-old man, sustained serious injuries.

A 34-year-old man, the driver of the Vauxhall van, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving.

Firefighters were called to the incident at 12.53am on Sunday.

They were extricated from their vehicles using Holmatro rescue equipment and small tools, and were then taken to hospital by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Crews from Bingham, Highfields and Central specialist rescue teams left the scene at 2.07am.

Nottinghamshire Police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision. Officers are particularly keen to speak with anyone who saw the white Vauxhall van leading up to the collision.
