Three weekend events to raise money for Wright Street victims
A number of events are taking place this weekend in aid of those who lost their homes in the Wright Street explosion.
A coffee morning and raffle is taking place on Saturday From 10.30am to noon at Holy Trinity Community & Partnership Centre on Boundary Road Newark.
Everyone is welcome.
Kind-hearted Newark firefighters have decided to split the money they make at their carwash at the Boundary Road fire station 50/50 with the disaster fund which has been set up and is being administered by local people.
It had originally been intended for the money to solely go to the Fire Fighters Charity.
Crews from Newark were among the 80 emergency services personnel at Wright Street following the blast of Sunday May 19 which claimed two lives.
In addition to the house that was destroyed, two others are in the process of being demolished.
Andrew Harrison, the organiser of the Newark Carboot Sale, which takes place every Sunday at the lorrypark by the cattlemarket, has given fund members a pitch free of charge so they can raise money.
