A tearoom has been selected as one of six finalists in a national competition.

Leadenham Teahouse was named Best Traditional Tea Shop in the UK in the Clipper Tea Shop Awards 2017.

It is now through to the final with five other category winners to compete for the overall title.

The winner will receive a Clipper Cup presented by television personality Kirstie Allsopp — best-known for property programmes including Location, Location, Location — as well as £2,000.

The teahouse is described as packed full of traditional charm offering a quaint and cosy backdrop to morning or afternoon tea.

It is run by sisters Katie Mace and Kirsty Kershaw in premises that also include a post office run by their mother, Mrs Karen Swift.

The business was the regional winner for the East of England in the best post office/village shop category of the Countryside Alliance Awards 2016.

Katie said they were excited to get so far in another competition. They are the only Midlands competitor.

“Now it is down to the public vote,” Katie said.

Voting closes on October 9. To take part visit the Clipper Teas website
