Trial of Southwell plastic surgeon Dr Peter Brooks charged with attempted murder of former colleague Graeme Perks under way at Nottingham Crown Court




A Southwell plastic surgeon charged with the attempted murder of a former colleague has gone on trial today (Thursday).

Dr Jonathan Peter Brooks, known as Peter, denies that on January 14 of last year he attempted to murder Graeme Perks, arson with intent to endanger life at Mr Perk's home and possession of a knife.

Mr Perks suffered stab wounds at his home at Halam Hill, Halam. He, his wife Beverley and Henry Perks were at home at the time.

The jury has been sworn in and the Crown will make its opening speech after lunch.

Dr Brooks, 58, of Landseer Road, Southwell, elected to defend himself at the trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

He decided not to be present in court today, which the judge said the jury should draw no conclusions from.

It is a criminal offence to comment anything deemed prejudicial in an ongoing court case.
