Severn Trent water mains work to close road in Newark, with diversion

Residents have been warned about two weeks of disruption as a road is closed to facilitate ongoing water works.

Severn Trent will be carrying out scheduled water mains work on Hawton Road in Newark, at the roundabout junction with Boundary Road, starting from Monday, August 18.

The water company has been installing new water mains in the area, and has already completed work along Boundary Road.

A number of traffic management systems will be in place while this next stage of works is carried out.

There will be closures in place on the roundabout, at the junctions with Windsor Road and Hawton Road, and a one-way system along the west side of Boundary Road.

To ensure the safety of the workforce, there will be temporary two-way traffic lights on Albert Street and the east side of Boundary Road, which will be manually controlled between 7.30am and 9.30am, and later from 3pm to 8.30pm.

A diversion route will also take traffic along Boundary Road, Bowbridge Road, and a news stretch of the Southern Link Road, to return to access Hawton Road.
