Newark: Jonathan Peter Brooks appears at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on attempted murder charge
A 56-year-old charged with the attempted murder of a highly-regarded Nottinghamshire surgeon has appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
Jonathan Peter Brooks, of Landseer Road, Southwell, appeared after allegedly attacking 65-year-old Graeme Perks in his home in Halam Hill, Halam, at 4.15am on Thursday, January 14.
Dr Perks, a renowned plastic surgeon, is continuing to receive hospital treatment after he sustained puncture wounds to his abdomen and chest during the incident.
Brooks has been charged with attempted murder, three counts of attempted arson with intent to endanger life, and possession of a knife in a public place following an investigation by Nottinghamshire Police.
He was remanded into custody until February 15 when he will appear at Nottingham Crown Court.
