Community Governance Review launched by Rushcliffe Borough Council for Upper Saxondale after submission of petition

Villagers are to be consulted on their views of having a parish council.

A Community Governance Review has been launched by Rushcliffe Borough Council for Upper Saxondale following the submission of a petition from the community.

Each household, local business and community group in the petitioned area will now receive an information sheet and questionnaire direct to their address.

This will outline the information also available at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/uppersaxondale.

Residents are asked to indicate if they wish for the areas to be parished, and for a parish council to be created before the deadline of Friday, May 13.

Until now the village of Upper Saxondale has been split, part being run by Radcliffe-on-Trent Parish Council and Cropwell Butler Parish Council but the different identities of the villages, plus the projected housing growth for Shelford, led to a petition being presented to Rushcliffe last year.

Following the review, of which the consultation is part, should the council agree to the proposals, the new Upper Saxondale Parish Council would come into effect after local elections in May 2023.
