Warning issued over icy conditions in Advertiser area
Motorists and pedestrians are being warned about icy conditions this evening and overnight.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice, which comes into effect at 7pm today (Monday) and lasts until 9am.
Its warning said: "Ice is likely to form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
"This increases the risk of accidents, as well as injuries from slips and falls."
A shelter for the homeless and rough sleepers will be open this evening.
Those who want to use the shelter, located next to the Rutland Arms pub at Barnbygate Methodist Church, can enter between 9pm and 10.30pm.
It is opened when temperatures are set to drop below 0ºC on three consecutive nights.
Anyone who needs to use it, or knows of someone who may need to use it, can call 01636 650000 for more information.
